sweet dreams...

Even though Leah is starting to be alert and awake more often to check out what's happening, I couldn't manage to get a picture with her eyes open! She must be having a good dream...

smiles! :-)

Leah gave me her first REAL smiles this week! You know what I mean - not the smile-in-your-sleep look she gets when she's real comfy and suggly. She actually has smiled when I am talking to her or playing with her! The first was on Wednesday - she had just woken up for the day and gave me a big smile when we were saying good morning! She did it again yesterday, but today was the best. She was all smiles when I was talking to her - so cute it made me teary-eyed! And more than one smile this time - she was smiling up a storm! No pictures, cuz I couldn't leave her wonderful smiles to go get the camera.

bath time!

Leah had her first real bath tonight. She wasn't quite sure what she thought of it...she was scared at first, but then warmed up to it and liked the water. But after awhile she was ready to get out - I think she was cold!

UPDATE: The past two nights she has LOVED her bath. We made sure the water was a bit warmer, and just let her soak up the fun! Let's hope this keeps up!
Loving every minute of staying home with Leah. Do I really have to go back to work in 3 weeks? I'm cooking a real dinner for the first time tonight since being home...tacos! I think the smartest thing I did to prepare for a baby at home was to make meals ahead of time and freeze them. Can you believe we had enough to last us until now? It made things go much smoother when all I had to do was heat something up, and have minimal clean up!

Here we are on a nice walk...cool hat, huh? Copied from my new friend Evan! :-)

Doesn't look too comfy, but she sure slept like a log!

just hanging out

We've just been lounging around lately...School starts on Monday, but not for me! I won't go back until Sept. 8, after the Labor Day break. Time has already gone fast...just looking forward to the time that I have left to spend with our little bug!

Something must have been really funny...

still sleeping...

Yep, another picture of our little bug fast asleep. She takes squirmy naps during the day, but is still sleeping very well at night. She makes some of the funniest, cutest faces when she's sleeping! We are settling into a good routine around here. I feel like she is growing and getting bigger each day! Many people have commented that she is definitely going to have red hair!

As for me, I am doing just fine. I feel great - 1000 times better than I felt in the last few weeks of the pregnancy! My feet are swollen no more, I can bend over and move about freely. It's funny how grateful I am to be able to bend down to change the laundry! My wedding ring still doesn't fit though. :-(

all she wants to do...

....is sleep and eat! I am probably jinxing myself by writing this, but she really is a pretty good sleeper so far. She gives us 3 1/2 - 4 hours of sleep at night, even 5 hours the other night. She might have slept longer but I woke her up to feed her. Let's hope this lasts and just keeps getting better!

She is eating very well too...nurses good, and we are still finger feeding her to make sure she is getting enough food. She gobbles up everything we give her! And of course that leads to MANY diaper changes...it never fails, as soon as we change her, wether she's wet or dirty, within minutes she needs changing again! Basically, we are using two diapers per changing...

We will take Leah in for her 2 week check-up today. Hopefully all is well, especially her weight. I'm curious to see how much she has gained!

UPDATE: Doctor visit went well. She was wide awake the whole time. Her weight is up to 6 lbs. 10 oz. Yeah!

Must be a good dream!

So peaceful...

A rare moment when she is awake!

busy day

We had quite the day yesterday. A trip to MN for a wedding reception, then back to town and straight to Aunt Rhonda's for Stina's birthday party. Leah traveled pretty well and was a good little girl, letting everyone hold her and ooh and ahh over her. But after awhile, she wanted the peace and quiet of home...just like her dad, a home-body! Nothing wrong with that.

Speaking of dad, we have one last full-day with him home, then it's back to work for him. This just means lots of visits over his lunch to see daddy and walk to the park to eat! We will sure miss him and have enjoyed having him home.
