All Grown Up

As I watch my now 2-year old counting along with "Moose and Z" on Nick Jr., I thought now would be a good time to do some updates on Leah while I'm thinking of them.

  • She is quite the copycat - loves to watch what the big kids do and copy them.

  • Counts to 14+

  • Can say her ABC's and is starting to recognize her letters, thanks to Daddy and bath time (they practice every night with the bath toy letters that stick to the wall. She actually asks to "Play ABC's".)

  • Has pretty much mastered all of her colors. Still has trouble with orange. Did you know that "brown" was a two-syllable word, sometimes three? Yup. "Bah-Rown" or "Bah-Row-Nah."

  • Identifies most basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, oval, heart, star, rectangle).

  • Loves to sing along to any song she knows the words to!

  • Is quite the fish - not afraid to go under water and loves swimming!

  • Still is the pickiest eater ever known to man and her diet consists mainly of fruit, baby food veggies, peanut butter, pizza, chicken nuggets and french fries. Oh, and of course any sweet treat available.

  • She'll open up a book and "read" it. This is how the story goes: "Once upon time....(turn the page)" "It was a great day...(turn the page)" "And they had fun!" The End.

  • If she is told "No", her new response is "Puh-weeeeeaaaasse Mom?"

  • We have weened her off the paci in the car, although if we are driving and she is WAY tired, she will ask for it (but we haven't given in!) Otherwise she's doing good. We still need it at naps and bedtime, but we'll get there soon enough!

  • Did I mention that she is BOSSY and loves to tell people what to do! And stubborn to boot. Has to have her own way.

  • Remembers EVERTHING. Driving in the car, she will recognize places we've been before and talk about what we did the last time we were there. Her memory amazes me. Maybe it's just her age and the fact that she absorbs everything around her!

  • Has gone potty successfully a few times, but really isn't ready for that yet. She'll ask to go, and 9 times out of 10 she just sits there.

  • Still a little peanut, probably due to the fact that she doesn't eat. Weighed 24 lbs. at her 2-year check-up, and some 18 month size clothes are still too big for her!

  • Her hair is long enough for piggy and pony tails, and it sure looks cute!

  • The child needs to wear a facemask. She is accident-prone, and each injury seems to happen to her face!

  • When she does get hurt, she tells us "I need a bam!" Bam = Band Aid. Don't ask me where that came from. She virtually can talk perfectly and knows what things are, except for that. And of course, driving is "dribing", Jalen is "Day-yen", Grandma is "Gwamma", and so on. So maybe she only speaks perfect if you speak "Wee-ah." :o)

  • She is very curious about the sounds she hears. Motorcycles outside, lawnmowers, bugs and birds - any noise she hears she asks "What's that?"

  • I just put her to bed for the night. She tells me "I sweep in mommy daddy bed I scared of wain!" Yep, during a bad thunderstorm a few weeks ago, we brought her in bed with us. That probably won't happen again!!
